About Us

St Gabriel’s Halls have recently been improved to accommodate theatre and music companies in need of affordable rehearsal space in Central London.

St Gabriel’s Parish House was built in 1901 on land that had been granted to the parish by the Duke of Westminster. The original intention was that the building would serve as a meeting space and recreational facility for the community – a service that continues to this day. The halls and smaller rooms also offer a range of rehearsal spaces for theatre, music and dance groups.

The original trust was reconstituted in 2006 as the St Gabriel’s Parish House Trust and registered as charity number 1114216.

The trustees of St Gabriel's Halls are: Father Luke Irvine-Capel (chairman),William Meyer, Kathleen Woolard, Magdalen Fisher and Simon Guppy

The Aims of the Trust
  • to provide the highest quality space for rehearsals of opera/theatre and a meeting space for groups and societies;
  • to provide meeting spaces, facilities and open space for the local community and increase capacity for new users;
  • to ensure the financial sustainability of the building for continued cultural, recreational and community use;
  • to oversee the restoration and refurbishment of the building.

Future Plans

The Trustees are in the process of developing a master plan that will secure the fabric of the building, refurbish existing spaces, improve access for young people and disabled people, and create new facilities to extend the scope of activities that can take place.
